Why this post

This is going to be a super short post, because the shorter it is, the more helpful it's going to be for you guys.

I'm writting this post because when I published my post on How to find a profitable niche blog idea I realized that a lot of people were having trouble setting up a Google Keyword Planner account. Some in fact, thought that you had to create a Google Ads Campaign in order to have access to Google Keyword Planner. That's not the case! You don't have to pay ¢1! It's 100% FREE!

Although I understand why some people are having trouble. Creating an account is easy and can be done in under 1 minute!

Step-by-step process

Before we start, let's clarify one thing. There's no such thing as a Google Keyword Planner account. Google's Keyword Planner is a tool that's available for people who have a Google Ads account. So, I'm actually going to be teaching you how to sign up for Google Ads without starting an ads campaign. That way you'll have access to Google's keyword planner.

Set the timer... we have to do this in under a minute! Let's go!

Go to the Google Keyword Planner page (link here) and press the “Go to keyword planner” button. The text on that button changes from time to time, but don't worry... it's the same url.

That will redirect you to a login form. Login with your Google Account. If you don’t have one, just create an account.

Here comes the tricky part, and why most people think they have to pay. Do NOT click the next button. Click the “Switch to expert mode” link below. Take a look at the screenshot:

Once you’ve clicked “Switch to expert mode”, you’ll be invited to choose a campaign type. Do NOT click the “continue” button. Instead, click the “Create an account without a campaign” link below:

Once you’ve done that it’s all pretty simple. Keep going and soon you’ll reach this point and your account will be created!
