Welcome to MLGC!
Welcome, welcome, WELCOME! I can't believe this is actually my very first post on MLGC! I've dreamed about this day for a very long time now... And I must confess I'm terrified and excited at the same time! I have big dreams for this blog, and I hope you stay along and see what I have in store just for you :)
Why am I starting this blog?
Two months ago my life completely changed. My husband and I had a baby boy! His name is Rafael. If you're a Mom or a Dad, you probably know the feeling... I love him so much! And I don't mean "love" in a cheese way. There's simply nothing I wouldn't do for him. I want to see my son grow and raise him to become a strong and caring man. I want him to learn -like I did from my parents- that doing the right thing is the only path to happiness.
I just don't see how I can do that with a 9-to-5 job. If I want him to learn those things, I have to spend time with him and my husband home. I don't see any other way. I know a lot of people manage to have a regular job and take care of their families... but I feel like I want more time home. And if I factor in the fact that I may have more kids in the future, the more I want to stay home.
I talked to my husband and we made a HUGE decision. I'm going to quit my job and stay at home and start an Online Business. I'm going to do everything I can to make money from home so that I can take care of my family. If I have to quit my job, so be it!
The only problem is... I only have 1 year and 3 months to achieve my goal. Why, you ask? Because that's the amount of time that our savings allow us to live without me bringing a salary. I know it's risky, and I know it's not for everyone, but I'm taking a leap of faith and starting NOW.
I'm starting this blog to document my journey. I feel like if I tell the world about what I'm doing, it will somehow help me achieve my goal sooner. And if I can help someone else whilst I do, way better! You may not be able (or willing) to quit your job, but if you don't have a deadline (like I do) you can start an Online Business part-time too!
In "My Little Green Car" I'll tell you everything I'm doing to start my online business. I'll share all my strategies and all my tools. I'll also share with you my Income Reports. That way, you'll know whether or not my strategies are working and how much money I'm making while working from home.
Why is it called "My Little Green Car?"
I know the name is intriguing, but there's a story behind the name!
When my husband and I got married, we had almost nothing. The only thing I owned was a little green car I bought in college to go to class. The day after the wedding we drove away in that same car. Everything we owned, all our projects, hopes and future... Everything started in My Little Green Car.
I now feel exactly the same way I felt that day. I feel like we're about to embark on an incredible journey and I would like you to come with me. It will have its ups and downs. I'm sure it will. But I'm sure it's going to be worth it! Do you want to come with me?
My Professional Goals
I want to keep this section of the post short and straight to the point. My professional goals for this next 3 months are basically getting started in my journey. I know I'm a newbie so 3 months to get started sounds just right. But I think that's a good thing! Because that means that if I can do it, you can do it too!
1. 3 Niche Blogs in 3 months!
I've been doing a lot of research and, I've seen that there are many types of blogs/online businesses (you can check them out here). Since I'm not sure what I'm going to be good at, and for the sake of science, I'm going to start 3 online businesses in 3 months!
Keep in mind, though, that I'm starting all 3 at the same time. That means that if you want to copy what I'm doing and focus only on 1 business, you could get the job done in 1 month! Anyway, here are the blogs I'm going to start.
1. My First Blog is going to be an Affiliate Marketing Blog (This is the blog you're in right now!). I know a lot of people make a lot of money from Affiliate Marketing, so I'm going to give it a try. My Little Green Car is going to be my primary business basically because I'm going to talk about my other two businesses from this one. However, I don't expect to make a lot of money right away because there's a lot of competition in this segment.
2. My Second Business is going to be an Authority Niche Site. An authority niche site is a website that people visit looking for information about a certain topic. The idea is simple... You find a topic that you like and that people are looking for online. Then you build a website around that topic and make money thanks to ads. I'm going to try to find simple keywords because I want to be able to rank my Authority Niche Site fast!
3. And finally, my third business is going to be a Directory Niche site. It's probably going to be the hardest project I start, but I hope it will pay off in the long run. The idea is to start a website that has a database with information that people are interested in. The problem is... building that database can take a lot of time. But I hope that once the work is done, it will be worth it!
2. Spend under $2,000 in tools & services
I have a very limited budget. But I also have a very tight deadline to meet. If I want to have everything ready by 2020, I'm going to have to outsource a couple of things. I also have to sign up to a couple of tools I need to get started. These tools are key to success, so I have to sign up (you can see everything I'm using in my resources page).
If you add those things up and multiply by 3 businesses... It's a lot of money.
So... Although my main goal hasn't changed (I want to have the 3 businesses ready by the end of the year), I want to be able to achieve that by spending less than $2,000 overall. That's a little over $650 per project. And that includes both the services I'll be using and whatever it is that I'll be outsourcing.
Let the hunger games begin!
3. Guest Post on 1 big & established blog
My husband talked me into adding this goal. I was hesitant at first because it's the only goal that doesn't depend entirely on my "hard work". I'm going to have to find a blog where I'd like to publish, and I guess I'll have to contact a lot of people until I find an opportunity.
I think it's an excellent goal for a couple of reasons. First, because it's stepping out of my comfort zone. And second, because it might bring the first readers to My Little Green Car. So, the sooner I achieve this goal, the better!
My Personal Goals
Now that my professional goals are out there, it's time for my personal goals. I get that these might not be as important to some of you, but these are the ultimate reason why I'm doing what I'm doing. And who knows!? My personal goals might encourage some of you to pursue the freedom that an online business provides. I'm starting these online businesses because I want the flexibility and time to grow on a personal level. If I can't achieve that, what's the point anyway?
1. Go for a walk every day with my son and husband
I talked to my doctor and I still have a couple more months until I can exercise the way I used to before Rafael was born. But I know I have to take care of myself physically! My goal, therefore, will be to walk every day for at least 45min with my husband and my son. If during these months I'm able to exercise again, I might add a little exercise to the mix. But for now, I think going for a walk is going to be the perfect bonding experience and will help me keep in shape while I recover from delivery.
I'll try to take some pictures for you while we're out!
2. Read 3 books (No more tv shows)
Last week my husband and I finished watching "The Big Bang Theory" on Netflix. And we loved it! Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with TV Shows, but for a while I want to go back to reading
I still don't know what books I'm going to read during these 3 months, so if you have any suggestions, send me an IG message! (jimena.bolivarro)
3. Start a volunteer program with my friends
I firmly believe in giving back to the community. We're part of something bigger than ourselves, and we all have people who are living close to us that need help. They sometimes just need someone to talk to.
I've talked to a couple of friends about this, and we all strongly agree that we could do more. So I want to start a volunteer program with my friends to help people in our community. I think it's going to be a lot of fun too!
My Most important post
The moment I'm writing this, my blog is still sitting flat at 0 users. I can safely say that I haven't had a single reader yet. But still... I said it in the title, and I'll say it again: This right here is the most important post of my life. Not because it is my first post, but because YOU are reading this now. That's what matters.
You are the reason why this is my most important post... The fact that you're reading this means that I did end up getting a couple of readers. Maybe I'm even making a few bucks! But no matter how much this blog or my life changes, you and I will always be able to go back to this very first post and remember what it feels like to have no readers at all... To start from zero... No experience... No Social Media following... Nothing...
This is the post every beginner can relate to.
Did I make it? Is My Little Green Car a success?
If it is...
Why can't you do the same?
